To keep your leather products looking and feeling great, it is important to protect them.
Over time leather may dry out, but you can prevent and repair damage by using specialty oil and conditioner, to maintain a supple state with a beautiful finish.

How do I Care for my Leather?

Clean your Leather

If your leather isn't covered with dirt and grime, a wet cloth will often be enough. If your leather is covered with dirt, use a horsehair brush to remove debris. Next use a natural cleaner, such as Artisan's Son Natural Leather Soap. This specially formulated product is PH neutral and won't damage your leather.

Hydrate your Leather

Once the leather is clean, you need to replace lost oils to prevent cracking.
Apply Artisan's Son Heritage Oil with a microfiber towel - a thin film is usually sufficient.

Seal - Protect - Waterproof

Cleaned and hydrated leather is not protected. Use Artisan's Son Premium Wax Based Leather Conditioner to seal in the leather oil and seal out water/contaminates from getting into your leather.

Buffing

The final stage is a quick buff with an Artisan's Son genuine horsehair brush. This leaves a brilliant shine and ensures that the pores are sealed with wax.

Storing Your Leather Goods

Do not store leather in direct sunlight and avoid high temperatures environments.
Do not force dry the leather with external heat sources; instead leave leather to dry naturally. Ensure leather is completely dry before storage, to prevent mould.
Store in a cool place with sufficient airflow. Don’t store leather inside a closed airtight container or bag.

Notes

Most colours are initially darkened through the use of a leather oil or conditioner. For suede products we recommend using a suede shampoo to clean the suede (we do not recommend using a conditioner on suede).
